This year's Gothenburg Book Fair was buzzing with life, conversation and engagement. We are so happy and grateful that My Human Rights got to share space with Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia's Foundation, Mobile Stories and Give Racism a Red Card/Malmö City in their stand! Here was everything to strengthen the rights of children and young people.
The Book Fair gave us great opportunities to meet inspiring people, and together with our dedicated colleagues Gustavo, Lotta, Malin and Monica, we filled the days with meaningful discussions that really make a difference. We highlighted the importance of talking to children about racism and listening to their own experiences of what it is like to be a child in the sometimes incomprehensible world we live in today. It is crucial to understand that children have the right to be seen as rights holders, and it is our responsibility as adults to give them the tools to stand up for their rights.
Working on the Convention on the Rights of the Child and children's rights is crucial to creating a world where every child is given the opportunity to grow up without discrimination, oppression or inequality. By empowering children with knowledge of their rights, we give them not only a voice, but also the power to influence their future.
A big thank you to everyone who stopped in the crowd, listened, shared and spread warmth and curiosity. You give us the strength to continue our important work for children's rights! Children are not only our future - they are important here and now, and their perspectives must be heard.
